Internet Archive / Wayback Machine
Look up what a website said on an earlier date, or recover a page from a dead link.
When a page disappears, the Wayback Machine is usually the first place I look. Old documentation, vanished personal sites, and the earlier version of a page can be as useful as what is online today.
The dates matter as much as the saved pages: they let you ask what a site said at a particular time, and follow what changed.
